The Dark and Stormy (UPDATED)

Our cocktail moment of the day comes from our very own Nathan Simpson. He turned me on to the is drink several weeks ago and I must say it’s been hanging around and becoming one of my favorites!

I was skeptical at first but you know what they say: don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. ;)

The ingredients are super simple: a glass of ice, a shot of gin, and the rest ginger ale. For you veteran, more experienced cock and tailers, try two shots!  It’s refreshing, fizzy, and sure to score you some points with drinking plebeians!

I definitely believe in giving credit where credit is due!  I found this on Wikipedia and I had just HAD to include it in this blog post:

A Dark and Stormy (or Dark ‘n’ Stormy) is a highball cocktail that is trademarked by Gosling’s Export Limited of Bermuda, makers of Goslings Black Seal Rum. The Dark ‘N Stormy is Gosling’s signature drink. This classic drink is popular worldwide, especially in many British Commonwealth countries, such as Bermuda and Australia. It consists of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum and ginger beer over ice. It is optionally accompanied by a slice of lime.

  1. A bartender in Ptown turned me onto this two summers ago. Dark rum, and ginger beer, (which really is different than gingerale-if you can find it). Tons of ice and a wedge of lime. It says summer to me.
Cheers, Mike and Nathan. I love QL.
