Navy gives OK for sailors to wear uniforms in San Diego Pride Parade

navy.rainbowThis is some fun news! The United States Navy, Region Southwest has given the go-ahead for active duty Navy servicemen (and women) to wear their uniforms in the San Diego LGBT Pride Parade this upcoming weekend!

“San Diego has a strong military presence and a large LGBT community, and it is important to our LGBT servicemembers that we honor their full identity and service to our country,” said San Diego LGBT Pride General Manager Stephen Whitburn. “We are grateful to the Navy Region Southwest command for extending their support to our event and to these courageous servicemembers.”

This is the third year active-duty and veteran servicemen have been invited to march and lead San Diego’s LGBT Pride Parade. You can still register to march with the  Military Contingent, however if you’re active-duty be sure to follow through your branch’s Uniform Regulations first!
