New Jersey is one step closer to protecting it’s LGBT youth! The New Jersey Assembly just passed a bill in a 56-14 vote that would ban therapists and social workers from performing “ex-gay” therapy on patients under the age of 18. However, as Reuters notes the legislation would not ban the harmful “conversion therapy” by religious counselors.
New Jersey’s state Senate is set to vote on the bill on Thursday, and while previously remarking he was against “ex-gay” therapy, there is no word on if Governor Chris Christie would veto or sign the bill.
Here’s to hoping Gov. Christie will do the right thing!
