Dallas has gone purple
Not a political statement this time, although I’ll take every opportunity to remind non-Texans that Dallas is a blue town with a tolerant culture and a thriving gay scene. This, however, is a (belated) announcement for one of Dallas’s gayest annual events. The Purple weekend started without me knowing it. I have no excuse except that I’m out of the loop and haven’t ever been to a circuit party in my life. This sounds like a good one, and benefiting an excellent cause. If you’re in town and able, be sure to check this one out.
If, like me, you’re hearing about this for the first time, I’ve got some bad news. We’ve already missed the exceptional Chad Michaels of RuPaul’s All Stars fame, who opened the event last night at S4’s Rose Room. I’m kicking myself over that in a big way. Today’s pool party will be going strong at the Sisu Uptown Resort until 7pm. Then take a disco nap and head to tonight’s Main Event at the Southside Music Hall. Tomorrow, you can dance as the sunsets over the Dallas skyline at the Lizard Lounge Terrace’s Tea Dance til 7, then boogie over to the closing party at Plush downtown.
Get tickets and info over here. Ticket sales support AIDS Services of Dallas, a non-profit providing assistance, advocacy, and education for Dallasites living with HIV/AIDS.
Check it out, have a gay old time, and paint the town purple!
