Global Update: Nepal Offers Gender Neutral IDs

ImageFive years after a Supreme Court decision requiring “third gender citizenship,” the Himalayan nation is ready to issue documents without gender specifications. Applicants may still  be identified as male or female if they choose to be listed as such.

Nepal joins Australia and New Zealand. Both countries allow gender neutral passports. Activists in the United Kingdom are calling for similar legislation.
