Breaking Bad- Catholic Priest Style

It seems Monsignor Kevin Wallin tried to make his own version of Breaking Bad by taking part in the smuggling and selling of crystal meth from California to Fairfield County. From NY Daily News:

Monsignor Kevin Wallin, a former pastor of St. Augustine Parish in Bridgeport, sold meth to undercover narcs six times since September 2012, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

The 61-year-old former church leader and four others were indicted by a grand jury on six counts of possession with intent to distribute.

Authorities say Wallin could serve up to 20 years in prison and fined 2 million dollars.

As you can imagine, the Diocese of Bridgeport was shocked at the news, as he was regarded as “a gifted, accomplished and compassionate priest,” by many in Fairfield County.  The diocese also says Wallin had been on sabbatical since July of 2011 for health and personal issues, then stopped contacting the diocese.

The church, always ready to save a sheep, is still trying to provide support for Wallin. “The Diocese stands ready to help as it has throughout the past two years. We ask for prayers for Msgr. Wallin during the difficult days ahead for him.”

Makes me wonder if he used the confessional as a way to find customers.
