Two young men were brutally attacked when the parents of one of the men discovered them making love.
Since the attack, which occurred on December 27th in a suburb of Dakar, the Senegalese media have aggressively covered the story. Reports have shamed the couple and published their names. The son of the attackers has since gone into hiding.
Homosexual acts are outlawed in Senegal, a predominantly Muslim country. If the two men are taken into custody, they face punishment of up to five years in prison and 1.5 million CFA francs ($3000).
