San Diego poised to rename street after Harvey Milk!

San Diego is just a couple weeks away from having being the first city in the nation to have a Harvey Milk Street! San Diego is also where Harvey Milk was stationed as a diving instructor during his service in the US Navy.

The city’s planning commission approved a proposal last Thursday to rename the street leading to The San Diego LGBT Community Center in Hillcrest (Blaine Avenue) after the gay rights hero.

Now it’s up to the City Council, and they will decide in an open meeting on May 8th whether the renaming will happen or not. If approved, (and why wouldn’t it be?) it’ll happen just in time for what would have been Harvey’s 82nd birthday on May 22nd.
