Back in April, Toledo OH was the proud city to have an encouraging billboard from the Central United Methodist Church that said “Being Gay is a Gift From God.”
Well that didn’t sit all too well with Rev. Tony Scott of the Church on Strayer and he decided his opposing view must be seen. So he put up not only one, but nine billboards that say:
“Being Gay is NOT a gift from God. Forgiveness, Love, and Eternal Life Are.”
As you can imagine the LGBT community is not responding well, but it seems Rev. Scott is still confused as to why. He told the Toledo Blade:
“I love everyone. There’s nothing on that billboard about hate,” Mr. Scott said in an interview. “I’m getting hate mail from lesbian and gay people, but my point is that I love them too much to let someone believe a lie. I love this city too much to let a lie be sown.”
Later in the interview Rev. Scott goes on to say how there’s no scientific proof that being gays is not a choice, and other usual arguments that have already been debunked.
Lets go back to the fact that Rev. Scott and the Church on Strayer bought nine freaking billboards. You would think that one would be enough to satisfy their thirst to get their opinion out and use the money from the other eight signs to, oh I don’t know, maybe actually help the local community?
My favorite billboard that I’ve seen so far has got to be this one below, that was put up in Columbus by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
Let the billboard wars begin!

The last I checked the Bible says in Psalms that, “I’m fearfully and wonderfully made.”. I’m not a mistake and I’m not a freak of nature.
Well, to an atheist, nothing is “a gift from god.” Being gay, or whatever, is just a part of life.
