“President” Gingrich: Stop Gay Rights

Former Speaker of the House, and perennial “not running for the Presidency” Presidential candidate, Newt Gingrich, told the anti-gay American Family Association he would, as President, work for “pro-classical Christianity”.

We can only wonder if that includes working for the “pro-classical” Leviticus 20:13 – “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.”

Gotta love that classical old time religion!  But, it’s not just the gay guys that have to worry!

U.S. Air Force DADT Training Underway

Air Force service members are currently undergoing training regarding the implementation of DADT repeal.  Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, Don’t Pursue, the 1994 compromise that supposedly allowed gays and lesbians to serve in the United States Armed Forces if they kept their sexual orientation secret, is in it’s final stages, as the branches of the military undergo training for repeal of the law.  The Marines and the Army have been working on their training programs, and now we have information about the Air Force program.

New movie exploring James Dean’s sexuality

My mind nearly exploded today when I heard James “Rebel Without A Cause” Dean was gay, or at the very least bisexual. This inspired me to do a little bit of digging, you don’t go on with your day after hearing something like this an not confirming it. Turns out I’m a little behind the loop on this one, It’s pretty widely accepted that he had sex with other men. Of course, some say he was just doing it to advance his career, but when James was asked about his sexuality, he replied, “Look, I’m not going to live life with one hand always tied behind my back.” How fitting of a response from the man who “belonged to no one.”

Republican Idiots Continue DADT Nonsense

Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour has become the third Republican candidate “not” running (yet) for President to say he’d reinstate the ban on homosexuals serving in the the Armed Forces of the United States.  Barbour is the same guy who said there was no problem from the BP oil spill in the Gulf, and that everyone should come on down to Mississippi beaches for a great vacation,  as tar balls were washing up across the shorelines.

They did research to see what military people thought about this idea. The closest to the ground, the soldier on the ground, was the most opposed to this. And it’s not necessarily over homosexuality. Its over the fact that when you’re under fire and people are living and dying of split-second decisions you don’t need any kind of amorous mindset that can affect saving people’s lives and killing bad guys.

Civil Unions advance in Colorado

Despite the best efforts of this lady and this guy:

Three Republican women (and none of the 12 Republican men) joined the entire Democratic caucus to pass Civil Unions Bill, known as SB 172, out of the Colorado State Senate. Civil Unions now head to the House where Republicans hold a one-seat advantage but where three Republicans have already signaled that they’ll vote for the bill should it come to the floor. Getting it out of committee though, that’s going to be a little tougher.

Two Denver cops fired for gay bashing

This is an incident that took place back in 2009.  Unfortunately, it took two years but the two cops in question were fired for excessive use of force and lying in their police reports. The subjects they beat were gay.

And then there was one

MN Sen. Amy Klobuchar

California Senator Dianne Feinstein introduced a bill in the U.S. Senate a few weeks ago that would repeal the Defense Of Marriage Act following the Obama administration’s announcement that they would no longer defend certain provisions of the bill in federal court. Subsequently all Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, where the bill get started, signed on to the effort except two – Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar and Wisconsin Senator Herb Kohl.

Now the Minnesota Independent is reporting that Sen. Klobuchar has said that she would vote for repeal which means the bill is just one vote shy of passing out of committee.

Bets on how long before Sen. Kohl signs on?
